Outside Play

Healthy, happy children need regular access to fresh air and room to practise big movements and voices. At Tiny Tots we have two outdoor play areas. The children have access to safe and secure outdoor play areas which they use regularly throughout the day. Our outdoor areas are sheltered so that children can benefit from having experience playing outside in all weather conditions.

Gardening and Nature

Children are encouraged to explore nature and learn about growing flowers and vegetables. Experiences in the gardens include the planting of seeds and growing of herbs and foods. We encourage an interest in healthy eating and concepts learned while gardening, like composting food scraps for fertilizer or using gathered rainwater, help children to develop a sense of responsibility for taking care of the environment. We visit woodlands with the children so they can experience forest school activities such as den building, foraging, and fire-making. The less structured setting in the outdoors is fantastic for encouraging interaction and developing social skills. It also provides opportunities for relaxation, mindfulness, and revival.
